What to know

A CPAP machine without its humidifier is one of the lightest medical loads: about 11 W while it runs. Two nights of 8 hours take 176 Wh, so 53 of the 54 stations in the data clear this goal. The output and surge checks never matter here; only the battery does.

The heated humidifier changes the picture. With it, a typical machine draws about 56 W, 5 times as much, and the smaller stations drop out. The question below works out the setup with the humidifier on. Turning it off for an outage stretches the battery; ask the device maker whether that suits your therapy.

The pressure setting moves the draw too. The power figures the device maker publishes for your model, or the rating on its power supply, beat a class average. Enter that number in the calculator.

A CPAP that runs from 12 V DC through the maker's adapter skips the station's inverter, so it can run longer than the AC figures here. The math on this page uses the AC outlets and the 85% default, the cautious case.

Questions

What size power station do you need for a CPAP for two nights?
This setup uses 88 Wh a day. Lasting 48 hours takes 176 Wh usable, about 207 Wh of rated capacity at 85% efficiency. It also needs 11 W of continuous output.
Which is the smallest power station that is enough?
The Jackery Explorer 240 v2, at 256 Wh: 218 Wh usable gives 2.5 days of this routine. The ranking puts the smallest capacity first, then the lower price, then the lighter unit.
What if the CPAP uses a heated humidifier?
With a CPAP machine with a heated humidifier in place of a CPAP machine without a humidifier, the setup uses 448 Wh a day and needs 56 W running. 36 of the 54 power stations are enough for two nights of 8 hours, 48 hours without a recharge, against 53 for the setup above. The closest fit is the Anker SOLIX C1000 (1,056 Wh).
